As a Psychotherapist and Registered Social Worker with a Masters degree since 2000, I provide Individual sessions to discuss the issues that you are dealing with. We typically begin with an exercise about what you would like to change about your life. After reflecting on what you would like to change, we prioritize what is most important to you, and begin there. Then we focus on your strengths and the areas of your life that you may be managing quite well. We identify your skills and effective coping strategies and examine how to apply those skills in the areas of your life where you are struggling. I then introduce some new practical strategies for you to try. We discover which strategies are most effective for you, and how to incorporate those into your daily life. You leave the sessions typically feeling calmer, more relaxed, heard, seen and understood. You leave with a feeling of hope, and knowing better how to manage your negative or overwhelming emotions. You are now able to respond, instead of reacting, to difficulties that arise in your life in an empowered way.

I have worked as a Registered Masters level Social Worker since 2000 (MSW, RSW). I have worked at various agencies in Mental Health in Windsor-Essex County in the role of consistently providing clinical therapy to all ages, and primarily with adults. The counselling work included counselling individuals, families, and couples, facilitating group work, and workshops and being in the role of a crisis counsellor as a respondent for a 24 hour crisis line.

Since 2013 I have been employed full-time as a Registered MSW at the Thamesview Family Health Team, and thus began my work in the Chatham-Kent area. My group work here has been extensive; Mastering Mood (CBT) Group, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy Training Group, DBT Ongoing Support Group, Chronic Disease Group, Care for the Caregiver Support Group, Cancer Support Group, and Inspire/ Rewire (Mindfulness/ Meditation) Group. For the past 7 years I have been in the role of Mental Health Lead at the Thamesview Family Health Team. I have also supervised BSW, and MSW Interns at my places of employment for 17 years now. I have continued to provide Clinical Counselling through my private practice, which began in 2011.

In the media, I have been interviewed by both television (CBC), and local radio stations in Windsor, done speaking presentations in both the Windsor-Essex school system and community, and the Chatham-Kent school system and community (ex.YMCA in 2018). I facilitated a day-long workshop for professionals on Wellness in 2019.

To assist me in achieving continued growth and development, I attend many trainings, workshops, and read related literature. A few recent trainings include an in-person Externship with Dr. Sue Johnson and Gail Palmer on Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trauma Therapy with Dr. Gabor Mate, a 4 day Cognitive Behavior Therapy Training by the ESCLIN, a DBT (Dialectic Behaviour Therapy) 5 day online course by Dr. Lane Pederson, and Personal Growth Training and Development with Brendon Buchard, and Tony Robbins. My latest learning adventure is working towards becoming a certified Yoga Teacher. I appreciate the mind, body, spirit connection that yoga nurtures.

My mission is to perform excellent work in the areas of workshops, presentations, groups, teaching, and clinical therapy. I am passionate about and committed to using the knowledge I have to inform, and empower others to do their best work, to increase their levels of self-fulfillment, and happiness.
